This is sort of a noob question but it's something I'd like to get some advice on. Is a new old stock top-quality tire such as a Michelin XZX as good as a generic new tire? Let's assume the XZX is brand new but has been sitting safely stored for over 5 years, bearing no weight.

I've understood that new tires are only "new" for around 6 years. Does this always hold true?
