More problems 900 1992

My 960 straight six has a bad vibration at 60 to 80 kmph you can feel and here it, plus standing still, parked at approximately 2500 rpm you can feel it, I had my engine rebuild 1500km ago, You can here a strange noise sounds like coming from the sump area, the mechanic thinks the crankshaft is moving causing the vibration, oil light has been fine, i am thinking torque converter problem? Can i pull the starter undo the torque converter and put the starter back in and run the engine to see if the vibration is still there is this possible.
What are the signs of a failing torque converter.?
