That's a huge hit and minor damage really...the way I see it, without a rack, there would have been significantly more damage!...that roofrack acted just as designed (although I don't think they had impacting Birches in mind) and as an energy absorber and spread the force of the impacting tree...you and the car got away fairly easy if I can say it that way...I agree with others...that's not an El-caminozon job by any means yet!

It's work that you weren't expecting, but it could have been a lot worse! It's also worth a call to the insurance Co.!
