hi sages- just read the above new article with pictures about irv gordon and his legendary 66 3 million miler p18000 and recommend it to you. says its the original engine but seems to me i read in earlier articles that he had replaced or rebuilt the engine once. even if so, its still an amazing story. the car originates in new york and he has driven it all over the country many times. must be a real joy to have a car without electronic and computer gadgets on which the average backyard mechanic can do most of the maintenance and repair, without being clipped by dealers and shyster mechanics. amazing too that the car has survived rust out common to the snow salt roads in the northeast . i lived in that area and most of the older cars have disappeared due to rust. one morning back in 80 i went out to my driveway and my 64 dodge was gone , thought somebody stole it but noticed a large brown rust flake on the pavement where the car once was . isnt that a sad story. have heard of a few volvos resistng rust. question for my fellow sages- does the 240 resist rust better than most cars or is this a myth? if so why? thanks tons oldduke
