1996 960 Transmission Problems 900 1996

Thank you for posting a success. Great job working thru the issues. I too am a new owner of a 960 like your brother and have read somewhat mixed reviews on its robustness. But, these are an autobahn-quality car and worth the effort. Check the timing belt and its pulleys to be sure they're <70k old. Our radiator blew in the desert on I-5 and the low-coolent sensor saved the car. (We re-filled it with bottled water until we drove to the next safe turn-off.)

Thanks for the note about the LED (add to FAQ)?

I'd just replaced the transmission PNP switch because it wanted to start in 3rd gear. Note that the old one's insides looked good, but the new one fixed the issue.

Tom
