whirring noise after drivetrain work 200 1983

After the local Volvo mechanic got hold of my 244, it makes a whirring noise it's never made before. Seems to be only in 4th gear (at least that's when it's loud enough for me to hear it), and it seems to change when the overdrive goes on or off.

They replaced the overdrive switch and relay, a u-joint, the rubber cushion for the driveshaft carrier bearing, and two kinds of bushings in the rear end I think.

The noise isn't terribly loud, but I'm a worry-wart, ya know. I can image fluids accidentally drained or things installed backwards or.... The overdrive hadn't worked for several years, so I don't remember if it made any noise like this before.

Sound like anything y'all have experienced?

Joy
