240 won't start after wiring harness replacement - need help with diag steps 200 1985

I purchased a 240 DL from the original owner - maintained and everything was working but the wiring harness was really bad - bare wires in lots of places. So, I purchased a good used engine and ignition harness (both looked great - flexible - little to no visible wear).

I was not in a hurry, so I parked the car in the garage, removed the manifold and carefully removed the harnesses, labeling every connection with tape. It was dirty, so I cleaned everything, then went about re-installing the harnesses and putting everything together. I kept the original and used it as a guide, making sure everything was plugged in where it should be. With the exception of an extra plug on the coil wire (remote starter maybe?) and one on the engine harness near the fuse by the battery, everything lined up as before.

After putting everything back together and filling up the fluids, I turned it over. Spins great, but no start.

I pulled the first spark plug, grounded it to the manifold and no fire.

I've checked the obvious like fuses. The plug to the distributor does not seem to want to snap all the way in place, but I've plugged and unplugged a couple of times - I think it's on there.

I have the Bently manual - if someone could share some diagnostic steps to point me in a direction, I'd really be grateful. Nothing worse than putting in a lot of work on what was a running car and having it not fire up.

Thanks in advance....
