A/C installation on a PV444 444-544 1957

I think you are really looking for trouble with this idea. First, the B16 is underpowered for this type of HP grabbing accessory, then there is the matter of keeping the engine cool. The radiator in the B16 is marginal at best and in city traffic it would overheat instantly with the two blade fan. Even with the B18 the radiator is a weak spot needing to be either replaced with a larger and more highly efficient one - normally with an auxillary electric fan and a shroud.

Unless you want to radically modify the engine compartment, hood release location, and consider putting A/C components in the trunk, this is not something to be undertaken by the Volvo purist - or a less than "wealthy" man (or woman).
