240 oxygen sensor removal 200 1983

I am trying to remove oxygen sensor on my 240 - unable to remove with a wrench due to clearance (cannot get the wrench around the nut,as the exhaust manifold prevents this). I have rented a tool from Autozone specifically to remove o2 sensors - it has a slot so you can feed the wrench onto the nut without disturbing the wire. However, I am still not able to get the wrench around the nut with the limited cleraance due to the design of the exhaust manifold.

Has anyone had any success removing the o2 sensor? Would greatly appreciate the help - thanks
