wing window locks 140-160

The sliding "lock" IPD sells does work--but with a couple of drawbacks. I have them on my '69 144S--a car that just refused to allow the original latches to stay in place. I've used mirror adhesive like you'd find in any parts store--and I've used an industrial product my dad kept at his used car lot. I've switched out the glass and latches for ones I saved from scrapped 140's. None lasted more than a week or two. I finally gave up and installed the sliders. The '68 I drove before this was not nearly so troublesome. Two issues -- #1 - they are clumsy to use - especially if you're driving at the time - and #2 - they create a gap in the window seal which makes a whistle at speed. Now I leave mine closed all the time since the upper pivots started popping off too. Pity the 1967 140 owners whose latches and upper and lower pivots were glued. If anyone is interested - I have tinted and clear glass available -- and early and late style latches. -- Dave
