Replace antenna mast 700 1987

I'm trying to replace an antenna mast. Pulled broken pieces(4 sections)entire Nylon cord,holding nut,but now the lower section of the mast(thicker piece) does not come out because it's being held in by the sleeve piece.This piece has its "lip" seating right on the threaded piece where the nut screws in. Tried to pry it out with no success(I'm afraid to damage the thread).Any suggestions how to remove this sleeve? Tks
