A/C compressor clutch removal 200 1986

Success. I was able to R&R the a/c clutch unit without any rental tools. First, I removed the center 10mm nut that holds the very front rotating plate in front of the pulley setup. Carefully pry it off the pulley and once off, don't let the shim washers get lost.....like I did. Next, remove the circlip and pry off the pulley itself. This will take some work, but it will come off. Then that exposes the actual guts of the unit. Remove the three retaining screws, and wire that is mounted in the frame of the a/c compressor. I just cut the wire and respliced it to the original one on the car. Installation is opposite of tear down. Make sure the shim washers are replaced. If it doesn't engage, remove a shim, if it doesn't disengage upon startup, add one until it's happy. Mine catches a little between cycles, so this weekend I'll get another shim to make the clutch gap just a hair wider. Hope this makes sense and helps someone out.
