Reverse Lights switch wiring question 200 1989

Hello All,

My reverse lights have been out for a while now. I figured it out a while ago that something or the repair shop shredded the wiring that runs from underneath the transmission into the stick shift area. There are still wires in the stick shift area and they are just kinda ripped/cut. Two or three times I have bought different size female wire connectors to attach to the switch sensor on the top of the transmission. I have not been able to find a female connector that will fit snugly on the male prong of the switch sensor.

Do I have to buy a new swithc sensor with wires already on it? Also, if I can acquire the correct female wire connectors can I avoid lowering the transmission to attach them to the sensor? It is kind of a pain to get my hand up in there to access the top of the sensor, but I'd rather not have to lower the transmission if possible.

Thanks
Marc
