ANSWER 1994 940 Intermittent speedometer - OK above 45 mph 900 1994

Dear Mike91,

Hope you're well. Speedo failures post-1992 seem to be unusual. I believe the capacitor problem is not present in post-1992 Yazaki units.

That said, the speedo in my '93 940 failed at about 114K miles. I replaced it with a salvage yard unit, with mileage re-set to the correction value.

I'd check the connector at the rear of the instrument cluster - clean the contacts with aerosol corrosion-removed - and the pick-up, mounted in the differential cover. It is possible that the wiring harness has been damaged.

Please post-back with your findings.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
