seems to shimmy in 1st and 2nd gear 200 1990

Ok. I have another question.

A few days ago after I started up in neutral and shifted to 1st gear it seems that there was a kind of shimmy on the stick and I could hear it. As I went faster it disappeared and was smooth but then when I shifted to 2nd gear it did it again and when I went faster it disappeared and was smooth just like in 1st gear.

I was nervous to hit 3rd cuz I did not know what was going on. So I stayed in 2nd and went home.

I remember that there was something that the guy the I bought it from in August said or one of my sons - but one of the wires to the distributor cap needed tightening so we cleaned it up and made sure it fit right.

The battery had been really weak after I got it and I had had to jump it a few times until - the most obvious and not checked - was the battery was old - 7 years - so I replaced it and it starts up just fine.

But now this shimmy issue is strange. One of my sons thinks that it could be the wires or the cap. That's what it said it sounds like to him.

Any thoughts?
