123 Distributor 120-130

Hey all. I have a 123 distributor I bought from VPD a couple years ago, it has a vacuum/electronic advance and an electronic advance in place of mechanical with an adjustable curve.
I drive my car every day except for rain or snow so performance in terms of daily driving needs to be there.
This distributor which was touted as 'ultimate' is really a POS as far as I am concerned.
No adjustments we made in terms of dynamic timing could make up for the loss of the bottom end. Even though this unit is really all electronic the bottom end acted very much like a vacuum advance unit in that when you punch the gas at low RPM's the vacuum/timing drops out to full retard and the motor boggs and hesitates until it reaches the electronic advance after the vacuum advance and in this case it is supposed to be 1500 RPM but it never changes until 2000RPM and then it really gets going.
Now I suppose it is possible I have a defective unit but I really doubt it.
I have read others complaints about these distributors as well.
Anyway today after trying to get this thing to perform I finally gave up and took that POS out of my car and slapped the old crusty rusty beat up Bosch points distributor back into the car after a 3 year life of living on the shelf in my garage and don't you know this motor goes like nobody's business now!
Anyway, if anyone out there knows something about the 400 dollar 123 distributor that I don't know please help me to understand that I either don't have a clue how to adjust this unit or that I got ripped off by the makers of this unit and VPD. BTW the curve setting I have it adjusted to is 'C' on the 1-9 and a-e settings. Thanks peeps, ciao. Bone
