From my experience, the problem with diagnosing the fuel pump is that it does not crap out all at once. In other words when you're testing fuel pressure it may look good. But the next day it's not so good. When I replaced my fuel pump I cut the old one open. What I found was that one of the springs which put pressure on the brushes had corroded. Brush was making contact sometimes and sometimes not.
