Intermediate shaft seal went on too far...? 900 1995

1995 B230FD 270k.

Was suffering from seal problems at the cam and intermediate shaft. I had a new head, belt, and OEM pump on hand, so I'm doing it all at the same time.

When I got the covers off, I found that the intermediate seal had actually popped out - probably the source of the major oil loss.

I put on the new seal and while pressing it, the dang thing went in too far. It's even and it's fully seated, but I don't think it's supposed to be this far down... Concerned that it's going to leak again quickly if this is improper.

Am I worrying about nothing? Can the intermediate seal be in too far? I don;t see an oil drain-back hole, there are no problems with curling, and I can't slip it back out with a thin pick.

Do I leave it as-is, or do I pull the cover and risk damaging my pan gasket?
