You can do this test to determine if the sensor is the culprit, once you know the fuses are delivering power to the other loads on the circuits. This bridges the two sides just like your temporary bridge at the trunk, but eliminates the potential problem of a corroded wire under the carpet.

The layer-built BFWS relay is not really easy for eyeball verification.
