question on volvo 240 light bulbs 92 volvo245 200

hi sages- one quick question. my 92 245 wagon owners manual calls for an 1157 bulb in the rear brake light/tail light. this light is at the bottom of the 4 light stack on both sides. i replaced it with a new 2057 bulb which looks exactly like the 1157 in appearance( 2 power terminals, 2 filaments and 2 mounting notches at different heights on the sides of it). seems to work fine. is it ok, same lighting specifications? seems the 1157 replaced the 1034 bulb a long time ago. actually all 3 bulbs look the same. hope this question isnt a dumb one. thanks tons oldduke
