240 Sputters with no Start 1991

This is a 1991 240 automatic wagon that recently had the timing belt replaced and the battery. It stalled out one morning at a stop light, I reverse drove it home because it stalled in drive and neutral but not reverse.
When I bought it the check engine light was on as well as the srs. A mechanic told me that the check engine light could be a myriad of things small or large. It has been running fine for five months and I was going to have a full diagnosis of why that engine light was on when this happened.
Since it first stalled I have driven it 161 km with no problems until today when I was on my way to the repair shop. The transmission filter has not been replaced or the fluid changed and the spark plugs have also not been changed.
Thank you for reading, please help.
