Puzzled Codger musing here 900

1 - I pulled a spark plug and grounded it. When I cranked the engine, I saw spark.
Could I have spark if the CPS was bad?
• No

2 - I have 12 Volts to the injectors.
I thought that all the RSR does is provide 12V power to the injectors.
• True for '93. But for '94-5 the RSR also powers:
> AMM pin 5
> ECU pin 9 (main power)
> Idle Air Valve
> Fuel Pump Relay Coil (different relay, square with 5 pins)
[Wonder how the ECU grounds the pump relay coil for KP II "prime cycle", but not when cranking?]
[For cranking & running, the ECU gets the "OK to Pump" from ICU on pin 1.]
[Maybe be some special "logic" to control ECU pin 20, the pump relay coil ground?]
[Nothing in diagram or manual to explain it otherwise. A mystery function.]

The ground signal that opens and closes them comes from the CPU....correct?
• Yes
Ths spark plugs are dry even after cranking a dozen times.
I know that I have fuel pressure.
• Yes, at KP II time. But apparently not when cranking (no wet plugs).
Hm-m- m (looks puzzled).

I'd be tempted to jumper the 2 output pins at the RSR connector (Red and Green-Red), just to see if "forced" 12V at the pump relay coil makes the pump run when cranking (or if it starts).
Actually I'm skeptical on this, but it wouldn't hurt to try it.
