Puzzled Codger musing here 900

Dear HillBilly,

Hope you're well. On non-turbo cars with Bosch ignition/fuel management, the ignition power stage is mounted on the driver's side inner fender wall, just to the rear of the airbox. On turbo-equipped cars, the ignition power stage is mounted on the passenger-side of the engine bay, just to the rear of the battery. The ignition power stage is flat, with a gray cap and is mounted to an aluminum base.

On cars with Rex-Regina ignition/fuel management, the ignition power stage and coil are mounted together, on the front-side of the driver's side strut tower. This assembly is box-like in format. By contrast, the Bosch coil (mounted on the passenger-side strut tower brace) is cylindrical.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
