Timing Belt walks off cam sprocket. 700 1992

a 1992 745 timing belt is walking off the camshaft sprocket.
Four times! First I suspected the new head I installed with the new head gasket. I noticed the belt about one inch off the sprocket..I found the tensioner bracket was bent. I replaced it. Belt creeps off. New tensioner bracket bent. I think the tensioner is held flush to the block by the through bolt so...The consensus is the new head is planed a tad to the front (Not flat on the block do to machinist error)
I have the original head refurbed. Install it. Belt walks off the front of the camshaft sprocket....
GRRRR...
Now I read that some B230 late in the run had round tooth timing belts and they are not interchangeable. I did not keep the original belt.

Do the sprockets look different? How might I tell if I am using the wrong belt?

I saw one comment about retainers outside the cam sprocket, and another about spacers behind the cam sprocket. These were not evident on my engine for the last 50-60K.

I bought the car from a broker after it had a accident that tore the bottom up (Broken ball joint, scared splash pan, new oil pan..I will look and see if there is a new (1993) L series B230 attached to the new oil pan. Or something.
