Belt timing or Distributor Timing? 900 1995

1995 940 Wagon, B230FD (8-Valve).

I just completed round 2 of an engine head swap, along with some tune-up items (including a Gates kevlar timing belt).
In round 1, the bolt torques were suspect and the head gasket didn't seal... I drove it for a couple days before discovering that coolant and oil were weeping out of the gasket. The car ran okay, but the smell was troublesome.

I've completed round 2 (new gasket, *really* clean bolt holes) and the gasket seems to be just fine. However, upon initial re-assembly the engine really wouldn't start and it ran like shat when it almost started.

The next day, I pulled the belt, reset the gear to the index marks, re-installed the belt to match the index marks, and started it up w/o trouble.

However, I was idling it to burn off excess fluids, when I realized that the engine was shaking quite a bit at idle.

I drove the car today. it's fine a speed, but as soon as the idle drops under 1500, it starts to shake like heck.

So.. my timing seems to be off.
Question is... did I bork the belt re-installation, or is my ignition timing off somehow?
