Distributor alignment 444-544

Have another idea to run past ya'all. Since the cam gear is helix & drives the distributor, the height and alignment of the gears can play a factor in the ignition timing. Has anyone ever thought about adding a thin gasket between the block and distributor to achieve a few more degree's of retarding the timing? For those of you that really think about this solution, you will understand why the helix gear can play a pivotal role.
