WaaaY Off Topic.

All the ones that I have seen look like a half globe and a heat sink for a bottom.

In a typical lamp where the bulb is mounted upright, they do not throw any light downward.

I even tried to make a reflector for my floor lamp, but the bulb was useless in a lamp that needs to throw light downward.

I put it at the base of my cellar stairs where it is mounted sideways - it lights instantly - not a good location for a bulb that takes a bit of time to light up like fluorescent bulbs.

I may try some in my upstairs bathroom - but all of them that are not special sale items are really too expensive for me.

I have had very good luck buying energy saving fluorescent from a catalog that our electric utility sends, especially their multi bulb packages. Every bulb in our house is energy saving except for our dining room chandelier. Those bulbs are $16!
