car stalls - no start, happy ending 200

So my 1993 240 wagon dies at the traffic light the other day with my daughter en route to work. It cranked but would not start. Fortunately some good Samaritans pushed her to a safe spot where I later had it towed home. When I got to it (after changing the cam shaft timing chain tensioner in my wife's Audi a4 - fun job) I found that it had no spark while cranking. Only because I had a spare ignition module, I figured I'd give it a try. Oh, first I checked for timing belt breakage by having someone crank, while looking through the oil cap the cam did turn. Well as luck would have it the ignition module from my spare parts box worked - yes. Oh. while opening the hood, the little spring in the hood latch mechanism broke. It never stops. Eeuroparts has one for under $5.

Merry Christmas all!
