On going tach issues on a 84 242 200

Here's the problem.. Start the car tach works perfectly... Run and drive for 10 minutes and the tach drops to 0 ... I've checked all connections and all is well.. Sometimes tapping cluster will activate the tach ... I've pulled the cluster and reflowed some connection but to no avail.. Is this a bad tach or fault capacitor...I'm stumped....
