Door Latch issue 444-544 1964

The passenger door in my '64 544 no longer will stay shut unless I push forward on the door handle to "Lock" the door.

The latch is now completely loose when the inside door handle is in the unlocked position. It won't extend out.

I dug into the door panel but couldn't really feel anything obviously out of place, but I do lack familiarity with the door internals.

Any ideas what might be broken, and how I could fix this?
