960 rear end squat 900

I had the front of my 92 960 sedan up high to work on the wheel bearings. When I let her down the rear end was squatting more than normal. Usually I can "drive it out" and it comes back up to normal height. This time she squat and never came up. I have learned a little about this VERY EXPENSIVE nivomat shock. I guess mine have failed. Is there a way to stretch them out and kind of re-set them? I am looking at $600.00 to replace them. Has anyone had any experience with the "conversion kit" that IPD sells for $400.00. It is a kit that makes it a conventional heavy coil spring and normal "sachs" shock absorber. I am open to this unless anyone with a bad experience can let me know. Thanks to all of you for sharing great information.
