Ditto on WD in general, because it's mostly solvent (and leaves little behind long term, but apparently in your firearms experience, that is not even the case), but in many cases, where immediate result is wanted, it would probably do the trick...its just that afterwards, I'd be saturating the area with a better lube which leaves good things behind...like Tri-Flow for locks and lock mechanisms. I'd also flush with TF after PB!
