Negative Offset 140-160

Hi:

I've read some posts on adding negative offset, and everyone seems against it! I'm creating 6" wheels out of my original 4.5" wheels on my 71 145 by using the same centers and mounting them on new rims. I hate the way the originals look lost in the wheel wells.

So, to make the 6" wheels look even better in the wheel wells, I'm thinking about mounting the centers to give an extra 1/4" or 1/2" negative offset. Will I suffer from all those nasty things mentioned on the posts: bearing wear, bump steer, tracking problems, etc??

Thanks in advance for your advice, Daniel.
