Inside Fuel tank problem 900 1993

Bought a 93 940 wagon when low on fuel 1/4 tank turning right car loses power and comes back. I pulled the tank unit out and the unit was put in the tank wrong as it has been put on top of the rear plastic baffle in the tank forcing it to bend towards the rear of the car. Hence pick up is not sitting on the bottom of the tank. So now the baffle is warped back to the rear and i cant get the unit to sit properly with out landing on top of the baffle. The only option I can see is to cut the plastic baffle inside the tank. If i push the plastic baffle back by hand it just moves back into the bent position. any other suggestions.
