Alignment 200 1984

Dear Friends,
I just finished replacing strut cartridges, 2 ball joints and a tie rod end on my "84 245 after which I took it to the shop for an alignment. The guy at the shop is telling me that he can't get the camber right and is telling me that there's some problem with the ball joints. He's basing this on the fact that the boots don't cover the entirety of the shaft, leaving about 1/4" exposed below the socket and therefore surmising that the shaft isn't seated properly and throwing the camber off.

I double checked the part #s of the new ball joints (Uro) and torqued them to spec. I noticed the thing with the boots, but thought nothing of it since everything else looked right. If the parts are correct, it seems extremely unlikely to me that there's a problem with the installation - it's not as if the tapered shafts can go in any further. It's also not my first ball joint replacement.

I've had enough dealings with this shop that I don't trust them completely, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something before I tell them to #*&^ off.

Thanks.
