Alignment 200 1984

Glad to hear you got everything right now.
Hard for me to believe an alignment man does not know a McPherson strut design.
What I do believe is that you let them know, that you could book 'em, that you were not an ordinary head nodding customer and have some nice sharp eyes under your thinking cap! (:-)

I am going through that gut thing right now with some compressor shafts seals for my Diesel Kiki.
I bought these some 6 months ago when I had one car losing some oil around the clutch.

Today I thought I would tackle the job before this summers heat on a nice weekend of weather.

The seals that I received have a, sealed in plastic, part showing a measurement of 32mm of O.D. But the bore around the compressor shaft is 27mm?

The part of concern is the "o" ring seal micro finished steel disc. The ceramic or carbon disc that is spring loaded is 27mm. That makes for a real close fit!
I knew not to open them until placement so I can return them luckily!

I called them on it today to see if they inadvertently pull the wrong part or there was a bin problem.
The part numbers were written on the back of the card with just a pencil!
Very generic looking item, just like a rebuilder might stock. During our discussion, I found out that WWW.ACKITS are not rebuilders. They leave that arena alone and sell parts on a similar scale though.

They are nice people and checked out lots of things but they do not have any in stock to measure for me.
He tried to get specs but is not in privity as a rebuilder?
He kept plunking and got hit with a 45 day shortage or lead time notice for them! It was then remembered that I had bought their last two! I guess I panicked back then, as I thought these might become as rare as a hens tooth! Well these teeth, might be too big as well! Whoops!

He said, that the DK's are not as popular as they once were. Even though it's the same as a Sanden Co. Compressors, which is one of their suppliers of complete compressors.

The ACKITS web site has improved greatly from 6 months ago! Just so happens there is no picture of the seal for its number and now we "all" no why!

He offered the option for me to send them back for a refund or He is willing to let me give him the specifications of what's in the unit now.
He will try to find a OEM replacement or something else from his vendors that is in that diameter.

We both think these ought to be very common place component by now in the industry.

I think that it is really good of them to be so helpful to locate what I need on these old cars.

Right now, I am in the proverbial creek, standing on some slippery rocks!

If I worked at it, I might find nada!

Stepping about more carefully now!
Phil
