Potential purchase of 1998 V90 S90-V90 1998

Hey all,


I'm currently in the middle of helping a friend of mine buy a 1998 V90. One of his vehicles just died and he needs a quick replacement right away. So I told him about this '98 V90 that an acquaintance of mine was getting ready to sell - I was originally going to buy it but I just found a '94 850 5-speed that I can't pass up. Plus, my friend has seven children and needs a station wagon much more than I do.

The car has 111k miles and is located in northern VA. I talked to the seller last night and she said that her mechanic had advised her to start at $5200 as an asking price. I think that's a little too much. Need some advice here - how much do you think this car is worth, and how much should my friend offer? Car is clean, never been in any accidents. Always serviced with Volvo parts.
