charging problem 900

1994 sedan regina, 254000 miles. I have been driving daughter's car due to dead battery.
Car starts and runs, volt meter says 14.2 volts. Occasionally, the srs light will pop on and the volt meter reads 11.5 volts. After considerable and constant banging on the dash, the srs light might go out and the volts will again read 14.2.
Where do I start?
I will add that I have yet to figure out how to remove the dash cluster??
Thanks in advance.
