Broken Off O-Ring 200 1989

So I decided to change my oil breather box on my 240 and was able to get the old box off following the directions in the FAQs. However when I pulled the old breather box off I noticed that only half of the o-ring was stuck on the block. I don't know what happened to the other half and am worried that it may have fallen in the hole. What should I do? Should I change the oil and hope that the offending piece gets flushed out?
