ICU Connector LH 2.2 200 1986

I removed the ICU connector to test the resistance between the connector and the various components. I've read about the "sleeves" and it appears that the sleeves remained in the connector. Should I just leave them in there? Also, there was a lot of greasy goop in the connector. It was a brownish color, like oil, but I suspect it was dielectric grease. Could this mean that the connector was removed once before or did it come from the factory like this:
