Trim Clip Trouble 200 1992

Getting the '92 wagon ready for the Little Princess and noticed yesterday that the long piece of trim, at the front of the car, that runs under the grill and both headlights, is "about to fall off" loose. Tried for about 20 mins to re-clip it, with no success. Query:
1. Is there a trick to getting it lined up with the clips that I'm missing?
2. Since the clips themselves look pretty cheesy, and just might have lost their grip, are they still available?
3. Or, should I just lay a bead of Super Black on there and glue the trim on?

Thanx!
B
