Trip reset mounting 444-544 1963

My trip reset was dangling under the dash when I bought the car. For the longest time I had no clue what this was for as I kept looking for some button on the dash like a more modern car. There wasn't any knob on it but I assume it twisted, again like a reset on a modern car. Still not sure what this was I pulled on it an discovered that the trip odometer moved. Now that I have that figured out, does anyone have a photo of how it's mounted or can explain how it's mounted?

Also, the speedometer works but the odometer does not. Any "easy" suggestions to check?
