tractor engine? 200

hi sages- have occassionally heard the redblock 240 engine referred to as a tractor engine. have never heard this metaphor applied to any other engine. what does it mean? is it a term of derision or endearment? have heard slantsixes called sewing machines due to their valve noise and ford flathead v8s called boat anchors due to their ability to blow up and burn oil. so fill me in . thanks tons oldduke ps- who remembers chevy 6s referred to as stovebolts? do you know why? bet nobody remembers buick v8s referred toas nailheads.
