tick tock behind brake pedal/general area 200 1989

since last fall an annoying "tick tock" can be heard with key on
it seems to come from near the brake pedal/firewall area down low and to left
it "cycles" every 10 seconds.
even with trim etc removed i still cannot feel the part( relay?) that is causing this.

89 auto with 340K
did come with auto alarm but that has long been silenced.
clock stopped last year.

any guesses?

ps don't think anyone i know would plant a very long running car bomb :)
or maybe croc from peter pan resides in floorboards.
