89 240 Wipers won't stop running 200 1989

Ran into an issue with my windshield wipers today. When I moved the wiper "stalk" to OFF or Intermittent position the wipers continued to run. I tried jiggling the "stalk" to no avail.

When i got home i checked/cleaned the fuse and took the top/bottom cover off around the wiper stalk. Removed the wiper stalk and blew off contacts with air. Put things back together and still wipers won't turn off.

Saw another post that mentioned taking the top off the wiper motor and check the contacts. Before doing that wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this problem and ideas on possible cause(s).

Is there a wiper relay? or is it in the wiper stalk?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
