New to Me 90 240, Needs Some TLC

OD issue is more likely corroded wiring than the solenoid. Check the condition of the wiring at the tranny tunnel lip where it comes out from the shifter and goes underneath the car to the solenoid. Also check it at the solenoid connector.

Strangely enough, the rough idle and the cruise control could have the same root cause. Both could have vacuum leaks. Your idle air control valve could also cause a rough idle. Might need a thorough cleaning.

First, you might want to try a few possible simple cures before diving in any deeper...:)

1. The rough idle - thoroughly check the throttle body air hose for cracks and leaks. If in doubt, replace. They are cheap!
2. Are your brake lights all functioning? If not, it could be a malfunctioning brake light switch. This would also disable your cruise control.

Wiper arms - They simply need to be removed, adjust their positioning, then replaced.

Seat - You probably need to rebuild your seat bottom. Not a bad job, just tedious. Get some better foam, reinforce it, and replace any missing springs. A very common problem on newer 240's. BTDT with my 90 240, except I needed to also rebuild the upper part too... The following website should help.

Good luck and enjoy the car!
