740 - Rattle in Drive Shaft - like a ball bearing in a can - very loud 700

The noise sounds like a ball bearing rattling in a can when the drive shaft is turning - drive/reverse. I jacked the rear end up and put the car in drive, then tried to determine were the banging was coming from. The drive shaft is solid and does not vibrate or is hitting anything. I was thinking a balance weight on the inside of the shaft broke loose. But I never heard of a weight on the inside.

Wondering if if could a rear wheel bearing loose in the axle.

History: I noticed in the last year when I put the car in drive a clang happens. It also will clang when I let off the gas and then accelerate hard. The latest noise (above) happened at low speed while I was driving in my neighborhood. I immediately drove it home and parked it.

Does this sound like a job a regular mechanic could do, or should I take it to the Volvo dealership and have them vacuum my wallet.

Thanks
