I finally found a brake booster at the second junk yard! It took about 45 minutes to take it off. Most of the time was getting the upper left bolt out under the dash. Since it was a junk yard, I did care about bending the brake lines connected to the master cylinder. By the way, the 1992-1994 940 booster does not interchange with the 1996 960.
When removing the booster from my car I did remove the brake lines from the master cylinder, because with my luck I would have broken or kinked one of the lines. Installation on my car took about two hours, and most of the time was getting that upper left bolt back on. I had to bleed the brakes on the two master cylinder nipples. These nipples were very tight, so I took my time to make sure I didn't strip them.
After getting everything back together and bled, I took it for a test drive, and the ABS light came on. I bled the master cylinder again, and the ABS light went out.
Hopefully this brake booster will last a while, since this is the first one that has failed on any car I have ever owned. Thanks for all of your input to this issue! I could not have resolve this without you.
If my check engine light comes back on after this, then I guess I will be posting again to resolve it. Keep your fingers crossed!
