volvo 240 wagon stalling 444-544 1990

Have you ever replaced the ignition amplifier/powerstage?

This has been reported to get hot, the engine stalls and will not restart for a period of time presumably when it cools off.

The next time it stalls and won't start see if you have spark, pull a spark plug and see if it is wet with gas. If so the power stage may be the problem.

You could start with a fresh coat of thermal paste on the back of the power stage and see if that fixes it.

Otherwise stalling can be caused by dirty throttle body plate, plugged Flame trap / PCV system, old spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, a failing crank position sensor, or fuel system relay.
