Loose driver's exterior door handle 200 1991

With 120,000 miles on the car, I am noticing that the driver's exterior door handle has some "free play" - the other three are tight, no free play. My experience with this sort of thing on other cars is that eventually it just comes loose. Is some part wearing out? How do I determine just exactly what is causing it to be loose? Are there screws that might be coming loose? Do I take off the door panel and have a look/see? Does this require special tools?
Any advice from someone familiar with this would be appreciated.

Jerry
